COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Board of Directors approved a series of security upgrades Wednesday.
They approved 18 new high-resolution cameras for the Henry L Brown Municipal Building which would replace the original nine cameras that were put in during the construction of the building in 2002. I.T. Director Patrick Pool said the original layout lacks coverage in several key areas.
Lakeland Electronics’s bid of over $32,400 was approved. This project will be shared with the City. The CBPU’s portion of this cost is $16,248. The City Council approved their 50 percent portion at their January 23 meeting.
In addition, the CBPU Board approved security upgrades for five substations.
This project would include six high-resolution cameras. Pool said due to safety concerns at these locations, CBPU staff will install the necessary cabling. Lakeland Electronics submitted the winning bid of over $24,000.
The board also approved a bid of over $122,000 from Lakeland Electronics for a number of security improvements at the water treatment plant. This project would include four building card readers, one door buzzer, 312 feet of fence, three 24 foot cantilever slide gates with readers, three gate pedestals with intercoms and five high-resolution cameras. The CBPU will provide required power and conduit to gates and pedestals.
The projects were budgeted for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
