ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – St. Joseph County is one of several communities in southwest Michigan that will be receiving grants from the federal government to promote safer streets.
The St. Joseph County Road Commission was given $200,000 to develop a comprehensive safety action plan.
Michigan’s U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters say that the grants were given through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All.
Peters explained that “Michiganders deserve to have the peace of mind that their streets and roadways are as safe as possible.”
Stabenow added, “this is another example of how the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is helping our state.”
The city of Kalamazoo will receive $750,000 while the Grand Valley Metro Council also received $200,000.
