COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Planning Commission approved a request from the city on Tuesday night to amend Coldwater’s Zoning Ordinance concerning the height of structures in the C-2 Central Business District.
The amended ordinance would increase the maximum height for buildings in the district which covers the downtown area from 45 to 60 feet.
Community Services Director and Assistant City Manager Keith Baker said the change would help facilitate a downtown apartment project in the area of the former Taylor’s Stationers building that was recently announced.
Baker said there would be a sprinkling system for the recently announced apartment project. The change would allow for a five story structure.
The Coldwater City Council will take final action on the request. A first reading will be held next Monday with a second reading and formal action expected to be taken on July 25, 2016.
