PLEASANT LAKE, IN (WTVB) – A man from Hudson, Indiana was injured early Tuesday morning when his car crashed into a utility pole on Main Street in Pleasant Lake. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says the accident took place at about 1:40 a.m.
According to the Sheriffs Department investigation, 20-year-old Mitchell Musser was traveling at a high rate of speed when he went off the road and onto a sidewalk before he crashed into the pole.The car would up in the middle of the street with front end damage. Musser was pinned in the driver seat and had to be freed with the “Jaws of Life” by Pleasant Lake firefighters.
Musser was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center by Lutheran Air for injuries to his leg.The Sheriffs Department says it appears Musser was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and the airbags deployed.
Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash which remains under investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff’s office.
Hamilton Police, Steuben County EMS, the Lutheran Air helicopter and Pleasant Lake firefighters assisted.
