COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater school officials have taken steps to make Sunday’s high school graduation ceremony a more comfortable experience for everyone involved.
When the weather cooperated in past years, the ceremony was held outdoors at Cardinal Field but it had to be moved to the high school gymnasium for the 2016 graduation due to safety measures for the construction work on the new football press box.
There were fears and some grumbling the gym would turn into a sauna since it has no air conditioning. One local resident even went so far as to take out an ad in the Shoppers Guide which told readers to call Coldwater school officials and ask to have the ceremony outside.
But portable air conditioners have been brought in for Sunday’s ceremony. In addition, the ceremony can be viewed on a live feed in the high school cafetorium and there will be a live streaming link on the school district’s web site and here.
Meanwhile, over 50 Bronson High School graduates received their diplomas on Thursday night. Over $180,000 in scholarships were awarded to the Bronson Class of 2016 during Scholarship Night on Wednesday.
