UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Village Council approved a contract with Grand River Construction during Monday’s meeting to rehabilitate the Riley Dam concrete and catwalk.
Village officials said in a post on Facebook this is an urgently needed repair for crew safety and operations of the dam and that the lake will be lowered three feet for the work to be completed.
Union City is working with the state to facilitate the draw down and currently it appears they would like this to begin as soon as next Monday, October 20.
If that proceeds as requested, Union Lake will be taken down about six inches per day until reaching three feet which is estimated to be somewhere around October 26.
Union Lake residents are asked to plan accordingly for the lowering of the water especially since this is taking place a few days ahead of initial expectations. If you have questions contact the Village Office at 517-741-8591 during business hours.
