COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s boys team finished first on Friday at the 12-team Onsted Wildcat Booster Invitational thanks to a pair of record setting performances. Coldwater had 122 points followed by Tecumseh with 107 and Clinton with 88.
Coldwater’s Shuaib Aljabaly had a personal best time and set a school record as he won the 3200 in 9:43.37. Connor Covert won the shot put with a distance of 51 feet, 11 inches and also set a school record in the discus with a winning distance of 181 feet, 10 inches. That broke Logan Targgart’s record of 180 feet one inch that was set last year.
Coldwater also won the 3200 relay in a time of 8:21.44.
Jordan Parkinson was second in the 800, Matt Sowles was third in the 1600, Sam DeMeester was third in both the shot put and discus, while Jacob Evers finished second in the pole vault. Coldwater’s Joe Severn was second in the long jump while teammate Jayden Coney was third in that event.
Team scores from the girls meet were unavailable. Coldwater’s Breanna Eddy was second in the long jump while Jasmine Wellet was third in the 100 hurdles.

Coldwater finished third at the Battle Creek Lakeview Invitational on Friday which was held at Cedar Creek Golf Course. The host Lakeview Spartans won the meet with a 308 score. The Cardinals were only seven shots back at 315. Cam Ruge led Coldwater with a round of 71. Nate Waterbury carded a 79 while Keagan Dwyer fired a 82 and Alec Keplinger had a 83.
