COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A power outage during the 8:00 a.m. hour Friday morning in Coldwater caused traffic lights to go out and automatic alarms to trip.
Police had to man the busy intersection of U.S. 12 and Willowbrook Road until power was restored. They also had to perform traffic control duties at other intersections including the Four Corners in downtown Coldwater and at Pearl and Division.
It’s not known what caused the outage.
According to the City of Coldwater’s Facebook page, officials are aware that an unexpected outage took place for various areas of the city. Crews are assessing the situation and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Coldwater firefighters were dispatched on several calls due to automatic alarms getting tripped by the outage.
Phone service at Coldwater City Hall was also affected.
