COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater collected 26 hits as they swept Branch County rival Bronson 6-2 and 13-3 in a doubleheader featuring a pair of state-ranked high school baseball teams.
The McDonald’s Players of the Game in the opener were Brenden Bell for Bronson as he collected three hits along with Eric Bach and Porter Skidmore for Coldwater. Skidmore drove in two runs for the Cardinals. Sean Printke was the winning pitcher as he struck out three in four innings of work.
The McDonald’s Players of the Game in the nightcap were Bronson catcher Noah Roberts who had two hits and Coldwater infielder Bryce Barringer who collected three hits and drove in three runs. Mitchell Duda was the winning pitcher as he struck out four in three innings of work. Coldwater improves to 14-2 while Bronson drops to 16-3.
Coldwater’s J.V. baseball team swept Jonesville by scores of 8-7 and 10-6. Austin Robey struck out seven to get the win in the opener. Cody Nill earned the save. Austin Spray went three-for-four. Oliver Winter had three hits in the nightcap.
In JV softball, Coldwater swept Jonesville 9-4 and 12-3. Emma Stanley was the winning pitcher in the first game, while Cheyenne Akers picked up the victory in the nighcap to improve their record to 17-4.
Coldwater’s baseball and girls softball teams have drawn byes for the districts at Harper Creek and won’t play until Saturday, June 4. The baseball team will play at 10:00 a.m. that morning against either Olivet or Pennfield. The softball team will play either Olivet or Pennfield at 12 noon. The championship games will be played at 2:00 p.m.

Coldwater traveled to the Arbor Hills Golf Course in Jackson on Thursday to participate in the 3rd I – 8 Jamboree of the season hosted by Parma Western. Coldwater finished in 2nd place four shots behind Jackson Lumen Christi. Coldwater was led by co-medalist Keagan Dwyer who had a round of even par 36. Nate Waterbury carded a 40 for his round, Nolan Duda and Cam Ruge each had 41’s, Nick Galliers shot a 43 and Collin Warner rounded out the scoring with a 47.
Coldwater travels to Lakeview on Friday for the Lakeview Invitational.
