BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The number of Branch County residents who have passed away after testing positive for COVID-19 has reached double digits.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported on Friday that the COVID-19 related death toll in Branch County is now at 10. It’s also the eighth Branch County death related to the virus since August 19.
There have been 48 COVID-19 related deaths in the Community Health Agency’s jurisdiction. There have been 26 Hillsdale County deaths and 12 deaths in St. Joseph County.
The C.H.A. also reported 10 new Branch County cases on Friday which brought the county’s total number of COVID-19 cases since late March up to 666. The agency does not provide statistics as to how many of those persons who tested positive have recovered.
For the second straight day, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported over 2,000 new cases on Friday which brought the total number of cases up to 143,106. Nearly 7,000 Michigan residents have died after testing positive for the virus.
