QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles returned to the baseball diamond after a week of cancellations and swept Springport 8-4 and 12-1 in Big 8 Conference play on Thursday night.
Brady Mescher and Dreden Feltner, who was returning to the line up from an injury, tossed complete games in leading the Orioles.
The Orioles committed three errors in the fifth inning of the opener and allowed the Spartans to tie the score at 4-4 but they scored four runs in their half of the sixth.
The uprising was highlighted by Grant Holroyd’s two run double. Mescher and Hunter Tinervia laced three hits in the win and Mickey Connin added two hits and two RBI’s.
Feltner allowed just three hits and struck out 12 in the second game. The Orioles managed just five hits but took advantage of 12 Spartan walks.
Alex Barry led the way with three hits and three RBI’s in earning his first varsity hit and RBI.
Tinervia and Brennen Allman walked three times each and scored a total of five runs between them.
With the wins, the Orioles move to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in Big 8 play.
They are off until Tuesday when they will host Jonesville in the Orioles last official Big 8 contest with the Comets.
