BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles picked up victories 15 and 16 for this season on Tuesday as they swept the Bronson Vikings 9-3 and 16-5 in a Big 8 Conference baseball doubleheader.
The Orioles recorded just six hits in the first game but took advantage of 14 Viking walks.
Quincy winning pitcher Brady Mescher allowed just four hits and struck out 10 to record his sixth win of the season.
Mescher helped his own cause in the first inning with a two run double which put the Orioles ahead 4-0.
Riley Miner had two hits and scored three runs. Grant Holroyd drove in two runs while Mickey Connin added a two run double.
Logan Long had two hits for the Vikings.
Ryan Kempter was the winning pitcher in the second game thanks to four scoreless innings of relief. He gave up just three hits and struck out five. He also scored three runs. Holroyd added two hits and two RBIs. Jimmy Maynard added a two run single.
Owen Kimmons had two hits and an RBI for the Vikings who drop to 5-16 for the season.
The Orioles are now 9-3 in the Big 8 and 16-5 overall.
