BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Lady Orioles girls soccer team won a M.H.S.A.A. Division Three District championship on Saturday as they defeated Brooklyn Columbia Central 3-1 on the host team’s home pitch. The Orioles were down 1-0 at halftime before Quincy’s Kallie Glei equalized the match at 1-1. Shortly after, Sami Hollenbaugh was able to capitalize off a penalty kick to put the Orioles ahead for good at 2-1. Quincy’s defense battled strong against Columbia Central’s forwards ultimately stopping them from scoring again. The final goal came from a header scored by Kaitlyn Galinis with one minute left in the match. Quincy will compete in the first round of regionals on Tuesday, June 6 at 5:00 p.m. against Williamston at Lansing Catholic Central.
