COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Bud Norman once again pointed out during Thursday’s County Commissioners work session that building inspections should continue to be a contracted service like they have been since 2012.
Commissioner Dale Swift has said several times over the last few years that the county should hire a Building Director.
Norman researched the matter after Swifts latest request. He pointed out the Building Inspection Department is self sustaining and does not use general fund revenues.
He said there was a 65 percent increase in permits during the first quarter of 2016 compared to the same time last year thanks to the mild winter but the peak months for permits are June, July and August.
Commissioners on Thursday officially met newly hired Building Inspector Steve Spyker who has been on the job for almost two weeks.
