COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Community Health Center of Branch County Board of Trustees and the CHC Foundation Board held a joint meeting on Friday to plan out future strategies.
The hospital and ProMedica Health have entered into a strategic management agreement that could lead to the sale of the hospital to the Toledo-based non-profit sometime before 2018.
Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Randy DeGroot said it’s an exciting time for both the hospital and the foundation.
But Hospital Board of Trustees Chair Mike Iveson indicated things have started slow with ProMedica. He said ProMedica has struggled financially just like CHC with in-patient volumes.
Iveson said there were two major goals this year. One was to clean up the rest of the things they had to do with the county so that the transition can be completed. The other was strategic planning and he said ProMedica would be willing to help out.
Iveson added one area that will be a struggle during the transition is recruitment of key administrative jobs and physicians because CHC and ProMedica job descriptions don’t match.
