COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After about 40 percent of their full time positions for EMT’s and paramedics were unfilled last summer, Life Care Ambulance Vice-President Steve Frisbie says things have improved to a tolerable situation.
He reported to both the Branch County 911 Communications Board and the County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday and Thursday that staffing levels have improved and they are on a positive trajectory.
He said Life Care has benefited from struggles at Pride Ambulance.
Due to a lack of staffing, LifeCare wasn’t able to meet its response time standards, which promises an ambulance will arrive within 12 minutes of being dispatched at least 80 percent of the time.
Frisbie says response times have improved as they have been able to staff more ambulances.
According to Frisbie, they have also been able to retain employees as well. He says there are about a half dozen openings that need to be filled in both Branch and St. Joseph Counties in order for those counties to be fully staffed.
