STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – An elected official from St. Joseph County, Michigan is in trouble with the law. Bruce Bart, the Supervisor of Sturgis Township has been charged with embezzling funds from the Sturgis Eagles Lodge. The prosecutor claims the crime took place in 2014.
The 49-year-old Bart remains free on a personal recognizance bond after he was formally charged on Tuesday. The formal charge is Embezzlement of more than $1000 but less than $20,000.
Bart made a statement through his attorney, saying he is innocent.
