LANSING, MI (WTVB) – 17th District Republican State Senator Jonathan Lindsey of Allen is not happy with the portion of the 2024 state fiscal year budget passed by the House and Senate which calls for clean energy and electric vehicle infrastructure investments totaling $21-point-3 million.
Lindsey referred to a speech delivered by former President Donald Trump last weekend when he told Republican supporters that transitioning to electric cars would “decimate” Michigan, killing more than half of U.S. auto jobs.
He feels government is gambling with the future and should not get involved.
Governor Whitmer is expected to sign they record $81-point-seven-billion budget. A record nine billion-dollar surplus will be spent on fixing roads, building low-income housing, replacing lead water lines, and bolstering education.
