BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Write in candidates have led to two more contested township races in next Tuesday’s general election in Branch County.
Brian Reed and Ted Stoll are write in candidates for Matteson Township trustee. Richard Easterday was already on the ballot. All three are Republicans. The top two vote getters will be elected.
There will be a rematch in Sherwood Township for the Supervisors office. Current Supervisor James Smith lost to challenger Aaron Robbins 213-156 in the August Republican Primary. Smith is now running as a write-in candidate for the four year term against Robbins who is on the ballot for next Tuesday’s election after winning in August.
All of the Branch County government races next Tuesday are uncontested as there are no Democrats on the ballot. Running unopposed are Zach Stempien for Prosecutor, Sheriff John Pollack, Clerk Terry Ann Kubasiak, Nancy Hutchins for Register of Deeds, Drain Commissioner Mike Hard and Surveyor Ed Reed.
Republican County Commissioner candidates Tim Stoll, Leonard Kolcz, Tom Matthew, Jon Houtz and Randall Hazelbaker are all unopposed.
