DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Peter Tanz, who took over the presidency of Midwest Communications Inc. last year upon the passing of founder Duke Wright, was inducted into the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame during the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Summer Leadership Conference Awards Banquet in Detroit Wednesday night.
The 81-station radio group includes WTVB.
The Wisconsin native has been with the company since 1985, overseeing its Michigan operations 10 years later, including the acquisition of WTVB in Coldwater in 1995, and his MAB affiliation includes being its chairman in 2017-18.
Tanz was inducted along with Henry Erb of WOOD-TV and retired Marquette television news director Steve Asplund, raising the Hall of Fame’s total to 85 members.
In July Radio Ink Magazine released its 2023 list of the “40 Most Powerful People in Radio,” and Tanz made that list. In April, Tanz was also recognized by Radio Ink Magazine, earning a spot on their 2023 list of the top twenty-five leaders in radio.
