MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team opened the Interstate 8 Conference portion of their season Tuesday with a 1-0 win at Marshall.
The only scoring of the game came with 3:13 to play in the first half on a goal from Arif Ahmed, who pounced on a deflection off a Marshall defender after a throw-in from Niko Downs.
Franky Ramos made six saves in goal, as Coldwater outshot Marshall 10-8.
The Cardinals are now 1-0 in the conference and 5-4 overall. They will host Hastings Thursday as part of Purple Week at Coldwater High School, honoring those who have died from cancer, are currently battling, or who have survived the disease.
The Coldwater junior varsity team beat Marshall 3-0, on goals from Sebastian Ocampo, Nasser Abdullah,
and Asher VanDellen
Alex Martinez had four saves in goal.
