BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A public hearing seeking input from community members on potentially allowing golf carts to be driven in the City of Bronson will be held during the next Bronson City Council meeting on October 9.
The meeting at Bronson City Hall will start that evening at 5:00 p.m..
Following a request from Mayor Matt Watkins, the City Council discussed the possibility of a golf cart ordinance during their last meeting on September 11.
Golf carts are currently allowed in the nearby communities of Union City, Quincy and Sturgis.
But Bronson Police Chief Stephen Johnson made it clear during the Council’s last meeting he does not want them.
Johnson said in his letter to the Council that if they allow golf carts, a strong enforceable ordinance needs to be drafted and strictly adhered to. He also wanted a year-to-year review of the golf cart issue if the Council goes in that direction.
Council members had mixed views but agreed with Watkins that a public hearing should be held.
Public comment on the matter can also be submitted in writing to admin@bronson-mi.com or at City Hall by 4:00 p.m. on October 9.
