LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Firearms deer hunting season is now officially over in Michigan. The season which started November 15th ended Thursday.
A final count on the deer harvest will not be known for awhile.
Department of Natural Resources Deer Management Specialist Chad Stewart is guessing it will vary from region to region. The wet start to the firearm season may keep the numbers down.
Stewart says some parts of the state, including southwest Michigan, got off to a soggy start and most hunters would rather not hunt in the rain.
It was a safe firearms season in Branch County. No hunting accidents were reported by law enforcement authorities.
