WASHINGTON, DC (WTVB) – Michigan 7th District Congressman Tim Walberg said on Monday that Mary Smith was like family to so many Branch County residents.
Smith passed away over the weekend at the age of 102.
Walberg said in a statement released by his office that Smith was always involved, always giving back, and always a passionate advocate for bettering the community.
He went on to say, “Mary’s lifelong service to Coldwater, particularly her leadership to restore the Tibbits Opera House, will forever be remembered. Mary was committed to living life to the fullest, and at the age of 96, was one of the best passengers to ever ride on my Harley. Sue and I are praying for the entire Smith family as we mourn her loss and remember a life well lived.”
