MacKenzie Renee Hagelshaw, 26, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
She will be privately memorialized by her family. Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City is handling the arrangements.
MacKenzie was born August 10, 1994 in Marshall, Michigan to Corey and Julie (Brickhouse) Hagelshaw. She grew up in Union City and graduated in 2012 from Union City High School, where she had enjoyed running track. She wasn’t one to sit still. MacKenzie lived most of her life in Union City, with the exception of the time she resided in South Haven. She had been employed as a food server at Broadway Bar & Grille and Fabiano’s in Union City.
MacKenzie loved horses, dogs and all kinds of animals. While growing up, she participated in 4-H. She also liked to fish, usually at Union Lake. She enjoyed spending time with family and especially looked forward to birthdays and holidays.
Left to cherish MacKenzie’s memory are her father, Corey (Melissa) Hagelshaw of Union City; her mother, Julie Wright, of Union City; her former step-father, Tim Wright, of Union City; her daughter, Riley Gates of Union City; her boyfriend, Zach Gates of Union City; siblings, Megan Hagelshaw of Coldwater, Morgan Wright and Makayla Wright of Kalamazoo, and Devin Morehead of South Haven; grandparents, Lynn and Sharon Hagelshaw of Union City and Del Brickhouse of Coldwater; great-grandmother Clela Howard of Coldwater; an aunt, Karen Grace of Union City; uncles, Chris (Sheryl) Hagelshaw of Hastings and Danny Brickhouse of Kokomo, IN, and many cousins.
MacKenzie was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Connie Brickhouse; and her aunt, Kellie Ridenour.
