UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation has announced the addition of another funeral director, Bob Jinks, and a new office manager, Vicky Wilson, to its full-time professional staff.
Jinks was born in Petoskey, but grew up in Marshall and attended Zion Lutheran Church as a young man. He attended Marshall High School with the class of 1999, then later Kellogg Community College and Western Michigan University. He began his mortuary science career at Shaw Funeral Home in Battle Creek and apprenticed with Langeland Funeral Home in Kalamazoo.
He later moved to Wheeling, Illinois in 2009 to attend Worsham College of Mortuary Science, through which he became a licensed funeral director in 2010. Jinks moved back to Michigan in 2018. He accepted a job at Estes-Leadley Funeral Home in Lansing, then eventually took a job closer to home, at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services in Marshall.
Jinks joined the team at Lighthouse in September. He has 20 years’ experience in the funeral business.
Wilson was raised in Union City. After graduating from high school, she lived and worked in Arizona, Tennessee and Virginia before moving back to the area in 2007. Wilson’s professional background is in corporate payroll, accounting and human resources. After working part-time for several months at Lighthouse, Wilson came fully on board in October.
She will be responsible for the administrative duties that were performed by outgoing assistant manager Kristy Smith, who is leaving Lighthouse after more than eight years with the business. In addition to administrative work, Wilson sometimes doubles as a hospitality associate.
