COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Branch County man accused by Coldwater City Police of assaulting an officer Tuesday night outside the downtown Citgo station was arraigned yesterday in Branch County District.
34-year old Kenneth Steffey of Ovid Township was tazed before being handcuffed and arrested. Police say Steffey was driving his car on West Chicago street without his headlights on and was stopped at Pierson Street, where he pulled into the Citgo station.
No injuries were reported.
Steffey was charged Wednesday with resisting and obstructing/assaulting a police officer and driving with license suspended, second offense. The court also ordered him to serve a 90 day suspended jail sentence for possession of marijuana.
Steffey is due back in District Court for a probable cause hearing on November 16th.
