BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – One day after coming back from an extended two week holiday break, most Branch County students got a snow day on Tuesday.
Early morning wet snow which led to very poor road conditions resulted in school closings in Coldwater, Bronson, Quincy and the Branch Intermediate School District on Tuesday.
All of the districts initially started with a two hour delay before deciding to shut down for the first time this school year. The snow eventually changed over to rain by mid morning but classes had already been called off.
The bad weather also shut down Pansophia Academy, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Coldwater and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Bronson.
Classes were held as usual in the Union City Community School District.
If you thought Tuesday’s weather was bad, just wait for the weekend. The National Weather Service says a powerful winter storm appears increasingly likely to impact the area starting Friday and continuing through the weekend with snow, blowing snow and much colder temperatures.
