BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The National Weather Service has issued a mixed bag of weather advisories and warnings as the first strong storm system of this winter is expected to cause havoc on Friday and Saturday.
Branch, Hillsdale and Steuben Counties have been placed under a Winter Weather Advisory from 10:00 a.m. Friday morning until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
Forecasters are calling for snow and blowing snow with total snow accumulations of three to six inches and winds gusts as high as 50 mph late Friday night into Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph, Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties are under a Winter Storm Warning which is in effect for the same time period as forecasters are calling for heavy snow and blowing snow with total snow accumulations of 4 to 9 inches.
Forecasters say you can plan on slippery road conditions. The worst travel conditions from snow and blowing snow will be late Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
Rain will likely mix with snow for most of Friday which may limit impacts and accumulations during the day.
