QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy School Board took no action during a special meeting Tuesday night after discussing matters with their attorney Robert Huber for about 90 minutes in a closed session.
The special meeting was the first board gathering since felony public money safekeeping cases against former Quincy Superintendent of Schools Craig Artist and current Business Manager Cheryl Globke were dismissed last week by the Branch County Prosecutors Office.
Artist and high school principal David Spalding are still facing Child Abuse-Failure to Report misdemeanors.
Globke’s attorney attended the Tuesday special meeting and spent a few minutes in the closed session. She is currently on an unpaid administrative leave following board action on August 2nd.
A controversy erupted earlier this year over the way Quincy School District officials handled sexual misconduct allegations against former teacher Jason Ferrell.
Ferrell is scheduled go on trial in December on six criminal sexual misconduct charges in connection with alleged incidents involving a former female student.
The felony cases against Artist and Globke were initially filed after authorities claimed Ferrell got paid after he resigned last January. Both cases were dropped following a preliminary exam last week.
