SHERWOOD, MI (WTVB) – Two persons were injured with one being flown out by the Air Care Helicopter early Thursday morning following a traffic accident in northwestern Branch County.
The crash on Mendon Road, otherwise known as M-66 and M-60, near Ralston Road was reported at about 3:55am. It forced a shutdown of Mendon Road for almost a couple of hours.
It was dispatched by Branch County 9-1-1 as a one vehicle rollover personal injury accident with entrapment.
Michigan State Police told WWMT-TV that the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle then went off the road and hit a driveway which launched it into the air. The vehicle then rolled over and struck a tree.
State Police say both of the injured persons are in Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Among the agencies called to the scene were the Branch County Sheriff’s Department, Union City Police, Lifecare Ambulance and firefighters from Sherwood and Athens.
