COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With the current operating millage for the Branch County Commission on Aging expiring later this year, the agency’s board of directors this week recommended the Branch County Board of Commissioners place a renewal question on the August 2024 ballot.
Commission on Aging Executive Director Amy Duff says the operating millage makes up more than 75% of their budget.
If put on the ballot by the Board of Commissioners, voters will be asked to extend the levy for four more years at the current Headlee Amendment reduced rate of 0.4857 mills.
That would raise $868,017 in 2025 if approved. Donations and grants make up the remainder of the $1.3 million annual budget.
The Commission on Aging board is also asking the County Commission to approve a three-year contract renewal for Duff.
