COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school soccer, Coldwater finished the Interstate 8 Conference regular season in second place with a 6-1 record, after a 5-1 win over Hastings Tuesday.
On Senior Night, seniors Nasser Nagi had two goals, Jon Brownell had one goal and two assists, Jacob Knaack had one goal and one assist, and Tyler Kooi had one assist. Juniors Shaif Ahmed had one goal and Mohamed Salem had one assist.
Hastings scored their only goal of the game with two minutes to play. Coldwater outshot the Saxons 16-2, with Balal Nasser making one save in goal. The Cardinals overall record is now 16-2. They will host defending Division 2 state champion Mattawan Saturday, then host Parma Western Tuesday in the Gold Division of the Interstate 8 Conference tournament.
Coldwater also won the J.V. match 6-1 over Hastings. Koby Stewart and Angel Rodriguez each had two goals. Other goals were scored by Mo Aljabally and Drayke Fitch. Hunter Eldridge had two assists. Angel Sereno and Stewart each had an assist. The J.V. record now 11-3-1.
