BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – You may have noticed some tips to deal with scammers in this month’s Michigan Gas Utility’s bill.
There are several red flags you should be aware of. Beware of scammers calling. Don’t be polite if you sense a phone call is fishy. Simply hang up on the scammer and follow your instincts.
Michigan Gas Utilities says they will notify customers about past due bills before service is shut off, not by a phone call the same day.
In addition, stay away from selecting or calling numbers in search engines claiming to be Michigan Gas Utilities and don’t use certain forms of payment.
Scammers may ask for money on a prepaid debit card, third party app or even bitcoin.
