BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – After a very long week for the Coldwater Lady Cardinal volleyball team, which included a conference match Wednesday, a tri-meet Thursday and homecoming all week, they won the Harper Creek Invitational Saturday.
Coldwater finished first in their pool and was seeded first overall going into the gold bracket. In pool play they defeated Battle Creek Central (25-8, 25-9), Delton Kellogg (25-6, 25-13) and Mendon (27-26, 25-16). In the quarterfinals, Coldwater defeated Climax Scotts 25-10, 25-15).
Coldwater defeated Mendon once again in the semifinals (25-21, 25-12). Coldwater defeated Portage Northern in the finals as they rallied for a 21-25, 25-9, 17-15 victory.
The Cardinals went 6-0 on the day ending a long week 9-0. Their record is now 29-3-3. Coldwater plays again on Wednesday in a conference matchup at Jackson Northwest.
*Jasmine Wellet led in kills with 35, 6 blocks, and led in digs with 47
*Tyler Scheid led in blocks with 13, had 23 kills, and 6 aces
*Ellory Farmer led in assists with 46 followed closely by Olivia Foley and Jamie Wellet who each had 45
*Farmer also had 19 digs, 12 kills, and 5 aces
*Foley also had 27 digs, 13 kills and 4 aces
* Jamie Wellet also had 24 digs, 16 kills, and 6 aces
*Malorie Rzepka led in aces with 10 and had 23 kills
*Sam Rodesiler had 18 kills
*Izzy Foley had 23 digs
*Drue Mullin had 42 digs and 7 aces
Bronson finished second in their Polish Classic on Saturday as the top-ranked Vikings were beaten by Edwardsburg in the finals 2-1 (24-26, 26-24, 15-10). Bronson defeated Onstead, Edwardsburg, Sturgis and Hillsdale in pool play and then defeated Sturgis in the semifinals.
Adyson Lasky had 39 digs, 14 kills, 12 aces and three blocks, Ashton Wronikowski recorded 41 kills, Keona Salesman had 58 kills and 34 digs, Kiana Mayer recorded 137 assists and Kiera Lasky had 57 digs.
