COLON, MI (WTVB) – Over 3,600 Consumer’s Energy customers in St. Joseph County lost their power Tuesday morning when thunderstorms rumbled through the area.
The outages included all of Colon and Burr Oak.
Nearly 500 additional customers in Branch County lost power. All of the outages were reported west of Bronson just after 7:30 a.m..
The outage page on the Consumers Energy web site indicated most of the power was restored by 10:00 a.m..
The number of customers out in St. Joseph County represented 38 percent of the Consumer’s Energy customer base in that county.
Over 6,900 customers were affected system wide.
Consumers spokesperson Brian Wheeler says the outages were apparently caused when a tree fell on a power line.
