UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Following a five hour power outage last Wednesday, the Village of Union City has scheduled a power outage for midnight this Monday, October 2, in order to repair the village substation.
Officials anticipate all of the power will be back on by 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
This outage will involve all Village of Union City customers.
If you’re on the emergency call list, you should have received a call from the village. If you’re not on the list, call the village office during business hours to be added.
Village officials said on their Facebook page that crews have repaired all the damage and they need to hook things back up to make it “live”. Other routine maintenance will also take place.
A meter component that went out at the substation owned by Consumers Energy was being cited by village officials as the reason behind the outage that affected the entire village.
The power outage forced Union City Community Schools to send students home early that afternoon.
