BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – With the construction scheduled to start soon for a storage unit facility at 150 Wayne Street in Bronson, the Bronson Viking Alliance is looking for a new location for the truck pulling track.
Truck pulls are held during the Bronson Polish Festival as a way to raise money for the Bronson High School athletics program.
Over $30,000 has been raised by the Bronson Viking Alliance over the last couple of years.
The Bronson City Council will be asked Monday to approve the moving of the track over to the east onto land owned by the City of Bronson for future residential growth.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says the Alliance would like to sign a five-year lease for the land with the City having the ability to opt out of the lease with 30 days’ notice.
The Bronson FFA started the truck pulls in 1992. When the FFA program dissolved, the Bronson Athletics Boosters took over the event until 2020.
The Bronson Viking Alliance was formed in 2021 to pick up the event after it had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
