COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners voted Thursday to bring forward to their meeting next week a resolution that calls for the rehabilitation of a 3,500 foot runway at the Branch County Memorial Airport.
County Administrator Bud Norman said the money for the county’s $3,100 match would come from the $15,000 allocation the Commissioners approved for the airport board at their last last meeting.
The federal and state governments would fund the rest of the project and Commissioner Leonard Kolcz thought it was a good deal for the county.
Formal action is expected to be taken next Thursday. Normally, Commissioners meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month but because of the Michigan Association of Counties meeting in Mackinaw City, next weeks meeting has been moved to 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
In other action, Commissioners voted to bring forward to next week a request from 911 Director Kurt Spalding to hire a new dispatcher. Spalding said a previous dispatcher resigned last Friday because she felt the position did not fit her and she felt she could make more money at her other job.
Norman also announced the October 6, 2017 ribbon cutting at the new animal control shelter will take place at 10:00am.
