COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A public hearing will be held during Monday night’s Coldwater City Council meeting as part of the process for the city to seek a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant through the Michigan D.N.R..
The grant application deadline is next Monday, April 1, 2024. The total cost of the project is about $747,000.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker says the city would be seeking a $400,000 grant which is the maximum under the program.
One of the requirements is a resolution in support of the grant application. In addition to supporting the grant request, Baker says the resolution also would say the city will provide any additional funds needed for the project to be completed.
City staff have proposed allocating over $347,000 in future cannabis tax revenue as a local match.
Baker says the proposed renovation project would include the construction of a new picnic pavilion, fishing pier,
boardwalk, restrooms, a relocated ADA accessible kayak and canoe launch as well as improved and increased vehicle parking for boaters and park visitors.
