COLDWATER, MI – (WTVB) – A Bronson teenager was ordered to serve time in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court for violating his probation after he was sentenced last March on a pair of second degree criminal sexual conduct charges.
18-year-old Gavin McNitt was given a sentence on Monday of between 14 months and five years. He was given credit for 402 days already served.
Last March, McNitt was given an 11 month jail sentence with credit for 252 days already served after he entered guilty pleas to the two charges following an incident with a 14-year-old girl in June of 2019.
McNitt was also placed on probation for three years at that time under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act. Two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for the guilty pleas.
In a seperate case, McNitt was given a one year jail sentence last March after he entered a guilty plea to a charge of malicious destruction of a building between $200 and $1,000. He got 126 days credit for time already served and was ordered to pay $200 in restitution. .
