BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County escaped the brunt of the severe weather which rumbled through southwest Michigan during the overnight hours.
Over 27,000 Consumers Energy customers were without power system wide as of 7:00 a.m. Monday morning.
That included about 17,000 in Kalamazoo County and over 2,500 in Calhoun County.
There were only about 50 outages in Branch County.
Parts of Kalamazoo County received three inches of rain which led to a flood warning being issued.
Only about a quarter inch of rain was measured by the M.S.U. Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm.
A tornado warning was issued for Allegan, Kalamazoo and Van Buren Counties. Hail was reported at an inch in diameter along with wind gusts of nearly 60 miles an hour.
Numerous trees and powerlines were reported down by St. Joseph County Dispatch in Three Rivers where the power was knocked out.
Dispatchers in St. Joseph County also reported there were several crashes as vehicles ran into fallen trees resulting in two injuries.
Power was also reported out in Centreville on Sunday night.
