COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Outside of a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday, no rain is in the forecast for Coldwater through the middle of next week.
While Branch County is not considered to be in a drought, the western part of the county is listed in an area where conditions are abnormally dry, according to the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor.
The abnormally dry area takes in six percent of Lower Michigan and it includes almost all of St. Joseph County and parts of Calhoun County.
The website www.accuweather.com says Coldwater has only gotten 1.7 inches of rain for July which is almost two-and-a-half inches below normal for the month. Coldwater normally gets 4.24 inches of rain during July.
In addition, since May 1, 2017, Coldwater is almost six inches below normal for rain.
