LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Statistics released on Monday by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services do not provide much optimism that the restrictions issued by the state two weeks ago because of the surge of COVID-19 cases will be lifted any time soon.
The seven day average of positive tests in Michigan for November 21 through 27 stood at 13 percent which was slightly above the previous week’s rate of 12-point-8 percent.
Branch County had 1,599 COVID-19 tests given during that time period with 294 coming back positive. That gave Branch County a seven day average positive rate of 18-point-four percent.
Branch County was one of 29 counties at Level D which is right below the highest COVID-19 risk category of Level E. The highest level kicks in when a county reaches a seven day positive rate of at least 20 percent.
The number of counties in Michigan with a positive rate of at least 15 percent also went up to 33 this week compared to 26 from the previous week.
