A graveside service will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater.
She was born in Kinderhook, MI December 3,1932 to Leo and Violet (Knisely) Adams. She was a 1950 graduate of Quincy High School. She was the longest and oldest current member of Quincy United Methodist Church. She was sharp as a tack until the day she died. Her recall of the littlest things amazed her family.
After high school, Joyce worked at Federal-Mogul in Coldwater, in the inventory control department. It was here that she met Edith Cobb, one of her co-workers, who insisted that Joyce meet her son, Guy. This led to Joyce and Guy’s marriage on September 11, 1955, after knowing each other for only nine months. Guy preceded her in death on January 26, 2024.
From 1974 to 1977, Joyce worked in the front office at Legg Middle School. When Guy retired in 1987, they moved to Cathedral City, CA for twelve years. They moved back into Joyce’s childhood Quincy home in 1999 after renovating and updating it.
Joyce is survived by her children: Brian A. (AdaMarie Smith) Cobb of Arlington, VA, Jill A. Cobb of Coldwater, MI, and Jeffrey L. (Denise Houck) Cobb of Zeeland, MI; her grandchildren, Maryssa L. (Bryan) Sherburn of Lafayette, CO, Tylar E. Cobb of Arvada, CO, LT Spencer G. Cobb of Honolulu, HI, and Marlee A. Cobb of Mesa, AZ.
In addition to Guy, she was preceded in death by her parents, her two-year old son, Gary in 1959, her infant brother in 1937, her sister, Janice Burlew, and half-sister, Mary Lou Fairchild.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the people of Quincy UMC who provided meals to our parents over the last months, as well as to the compassionate caregivers from Hospice of Hillsdale.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Quincy United Methodist Church.
