WILLIAMSTON, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team went 1-1 Saturday at the Williamston Fall Showcase, falling to the host school 2-0 in the Pool B finals.
The Cardinals opened the day with a 3-0 win over Big Rapids, as Dawood Gabry scored all three goals. Liam Clark, Ahmed Norman, and Riath Shaamala had assists, and Franky Ramos had two saves in goal, including stopping a Big Rapids penalty kick.
After a scoreless first half in the championship game, Williamston scored with 25:30 left to play to take the lead, then iced the win with a long range goal with 9:40 to play.
Franky Ramos made four saves in goal.
The Cardinals are now 4-4-1 on the season.
The Coldwater junior varsity team went undefeated at the Grand Ledge Shootout Saturday. The Cardinals overcame a 2-0 deficit in their opening game to defeat Lansing Catholic 4-3, then beat Lowell 5-3.
Both teams will travel to Harper Creek Tuesday to open Interstate 8 Conference play.
