ALLEN, MI (WTVB) – A two-year-old girl died Friday night after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 12 in Allen.
Michigan State Police from the Jackson post are investigating the incident which took place at about 8:20 p.m. in the 200 block of Chicago Street.
Upon arrival on the scene, Troopers found the toddler lying in the road. A first responder was on scene performing life-saving measures.
Troopers assisted with life-saving measures until EMS arrived on scene and took over medical treatment.
The child was taken to Hillsdale Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
According to the State Police, a preliminary investigation shows that the child was put to bed by her parents in her home.
While the parents were working around the home, the child got out of her bed and walked out of the house.
She then walked out onto U.S. 12 and was struck by a 2012 VW Jetta being driven by a 38-year-old man from Allen.
The names of the youngster and the driver of the vehicle were not released. State Police are asking that if anyone has information on the incident to contact the Jackson Post at (517) 780-4580.
