COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Hillsdale man entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he was arrested in June for being in possession of illegal drugs while he was a corrections officer at the Lakeland Correctional Facility.
43-year-old Mark Everett Goodlock pled guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed a count of bringing contraband into a prison.
The plea agreement calls for a one year cap on jail time as well as probation. Sentencing is scheduled for November 18.
A search led to Goodlock’s arrest in June before the start of a shift by the Michigan State Police.
The State Police were requested by the Michigan Department of Corrections to assist with their investigation.
This is really sad I know Mark and his family his father and his uncles all went to school with me Mark has always been a really good guy and a really good neighbor this saddens me he has never ever been into drugs before som I’m having a very hard time believing that he was set up but never the less he was caught with this it’s just can’t believe that a yr in the county is a lot better than a prison sentence but this is his first offense he should be getting a yr of supervised probation not jail time Mark is very polite young man he don’t deserve jail time probation yes jail no I know for a fact that that corrections officer that break the law have never spent one day day in jail for the same offenses and in branch county in my opinion this is a witch hunt and singling out one person when other corrections officers have done the same thing at that very same facility and have been busted and fired and never spent one day in jail
