COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater is reminding residents that the Department for Municipal Services will begin fall brush pickups throughout the city on October 7, 2024.
Coldwater residents are reminded brush needs to be out by the first Monday of the month as crews start the process of collection around the City.
Brush Pick-Up dates changed in 2024. Brush Pick-Up dates are the first Monday of the month in April, May, October, and November.
This change was made to increase project capacity and enable employees to prioritize other projects, such as road work.
Brush is to be placed in the curb-lawn area off the street no more than 10 days in advance. There should be no root balls or heavy root systems and the brush should be eight inches or less in diameter with the ends facing the same direction.
Items such as twigs, leaves and grass clippings must be bagged and can be placed with your weekly yard waste or taken to the compost site at 45 Industrial Avenue.
Once the DMS street crews pass a residence, additional brush will not be picked up.
If street crews notice that brush was put out after pick-up, there will be a 48-hour notice given to remove it from the curb.
The final brush pick-up for the year will begin November 4. Residents who miss brush pickup still have the opportunity to discard it at no cost at the compost site.
The compost site is open year-round, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.. It is open on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. from April through November only.
