BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – Branch County will be represented by two teams and six individuals on Saturday at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Lower Peninsula Cross Country Finals at Michigan International Speedway.
Both of the Union City squads punched their tickets for M.I.S. during the regionals last weekend at Portage.
The Union City girls team captured the Division Three regional title by nine points. The Union City boys qualified for M.I.S. with a third place regional finish. The Chargers beat out Schoolcraft by 35 points for the final transfer spot to M.I.S..
Bronson’s Ava Hathaway and Ashlynn Harris along with Quincy’s Lainey Yearling qualified for the Division Three Lower Peninsula finals as individuals by finishing in the top 15 last week at the regional meet. Quincy’s Chayse Jensen was the only Branch County boy to qualify as an individual in Division Three.
Coldwater’s Gwen Eby qualified for the M.H.S.A.A. Division Two Lower Peninsula finals as an individual with a 14th place finish at regionals.
Tekonsha will be represented by Max Barron in Division Four thanks to his 13th place finish at regionals.
